G20 SCREENING SERIES IN HAMBURG, 2017

The G20 Summit is taking place in Hamburg on 7th and 8th of July, 2017. Because of this, Transparency International, the IACC Films 4 Transparency Festival and the Cinema for Peace Foundation joined in partnership in order to offer 3 days of free documentary screenings. The programme showcases documentaries that address some of the most critical global challenges we face today and which need to be addressed by the G20 leaders. Join us to watch the documentaries, engage in open and frank discussions and learn about how you can help.

The screening will be introduced by Farwiza Farhan, a conservationist featured in “Before The Flood”. Farwiza’s work focuses on natural resource management and environmental management. She most recently won the Future for Nature Award and the Whitley Award.According to a recent Guardian article, projections of sea level rise vary, with the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimating between 0.3 and 1-meter rise by 2100. But what is scarier is that there are many environmental factors and risks that are underestimated: with the great ice capes melting, the oceans levels could rise more rapidly and reach 3-6 meters by the end of the century, flooding many major coastal cities. “Before The Flood” embarks on a journey around the world to reveal the direct effects of climate change and its horrible consequences.

In The Borneo Case, documentary filmmakers Erik Pauser and Dylan Williams spend five years intimately following the trail of an unlikely group of activists whose aim is to investigate how profits from the illegal logging that has annihilated more than 90% of the Malaysian Borneo Rainforest, have been money laundered into property portfolios all around the world.
