Punta Cana will become a meeting point for the anti-corruption and investigative journalism communities from 1–4 December 2026. The International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) will host the Latin American Conference on Investigative Journalism (COLPIN), bringing together investigative journalists with experts and organisations working to combat corruption.
The IACC, one of the world’s leading global forums for those working to prevent and combat corruption, will host COLPIN this year, one of the main events for investigative journalism in Latin America, organised by the Instituto Prensa y Sociedad (IPYS) for more than two decades. The joint event will bring together, at the Barceló Bávaro Convention Centre, two communities that approach the same challenge — corruption — from complementary perspectives.
The latest corruption data further underscores the importance of bringing journalists and anti-corruption experts together. According to the latest edition of Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), the global average score fell to 42 out of 100 in 2025, its lowest level in more than a decade. These global trends highlight the need to strengthen the tools and partnerships that can help investigate corruption and hold those in power to account.
The relationship between the IACC and IPYS is not new. Since 2002, the two organisations have collaborated on the “Javier Valdez Latin American Investigative Journalism Award”, which recognises journalistic investigations that uncover issues of public interest across Latin America. Among the investigations recognised in recent editions are “Farra en el INSS,” which documented irregularities and a scheme to divert funds within Brazil’s social security system, and “Televisa Leaks,” which investigated alleged espionage operations, disinformation campaigns and other practices linked to Mexico’s powerful media network.
The joint celebration of IACC and COLPIN builds on this long-standing relationship and takes it to a new level. Participants will have access to both events, creating more opportunities to attend sessions, learn about new investigations, exchange experiences and connect with professionals and organisations from across the region and around the world.
